FAROS is active in Grece since 2014 providing care and individual support to unaccompanied children and refugee youth. This is mainly done through keeping them safe, help them realize their worth, and help them in the direction of a better future. FAROS provide them accommodation, access to legal services, psychosocial support, formal and non-formal education, and mentoring.
A small core team is based in Istanbul since late 2024 working closely with some local associations. More than 4 million of refugees are presents in the country and unaccompanied children and youth are growing in numbers.
Approximately 100 children and teenagers has been hosted by Faros and some more involved in various support activities through a mobile unit providing basic healthcare, and support to children in the suburban areas.
FAROS is a faith-based organisation, working closely with international ecumenical organisations dealing with migrants and humanitarian aid.
