Chaco is a region of northern Argentina particularly affected by climate change.
The negative effects are particularly significant on communities of indigenous peoples, impoverished fractions of rural producers or workers in a situation of unemployment. At the same time, the feminization of poverty is a fact that affects all sectors. Community organizations do not have the capacity to obtain external funding. The main challenge is to improve the production models of community organizations moving towards agroecological processes.
The aim is reducing vulnerability concerning water access. The rural communities, have been trained with different modules (technical, theoretical and management) through a collaboration between local authorities , institutions and key community actors (teachers, pastors, members of community associations, young people, producers).
Two water tanks were built and made functional. Two hand pumps were installed in the tanks built to not depend on the electricity from the regional network. The seeds of indigenous plants have begun to grow according to agroforestry techniques that will help water conservation.
45 people have been trained in the local community, and around 300 families benefit from the positive impact of the project.
The Hora de Obrar Foundation coordinated the activities and remains engaged in the field
