Lucas Bruder de Oliveira is an ordained minister of the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil and the Presbyterian Church in Canada. He is also an actor, singer and trapeze artist. He completed his Master of Theology degree at the Vancouver School of Theology. His research focuses on ways to approach liturgy and worship of God in a holistic way while keeping the liturgical theological foundations of Reformed theology.
"The pastoral and theological calling is not fulfilled by one person alone. If we look at Moses, Aaron, Paul, and so many others, we will see that a network of people who serve the Kingdom of God are called to participate. After all, the ultimate purpose of a vocation is not to make an individual a "sole agent of the Kingdom." The purpose is for the Kingdom of God to grow.
I have been blessed by a network of servants of God who have been called to be part of the vocation that has been entrusted to me. This network includes my family, the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil and its theology school (FATIPI), the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the Vancouver School of Theology, and the FAP. The FAP played a fundamental role in making it possible for me to go to Canada, a country where all the points of this network are connected. Through the calling of these people and institutions, I was able to follow my vocation.
Now, I return to Brazil to share what I have learned through my research in the area of liturgy and worship - a subject so central to our faith, since we are part of the people called to worship God.
My gratitude to FAP is expressed in two ways: by sharing the results of my research with Brazil and other countries and through my prayers, asking God to continue to bless and guide this foundation so that it may continue to be part of the vocation of those who serve the Kingdom of God."
